Alfred resident Laurie Lounsberry McFadden serves as the president of Baker's Bridge Historical Association of Alfred Station and is a member of the Alfred Historical Society.

A librarian and archivist at Alfred University, she has authored many history-related articles. She dedicated the book to those in the Alfred community who understand the importance of preserving local history.
